With my 45th birthday rapidly approaching, my best touring days are already behind me. Like you, I make more and more of my income these days mixing the CEO talking head type of gigs. Not as exciting as 10,000+ screaming teenagers at a rock show, but it pays just as well if not better. I get to work with some very intelligent, well educated, talented, and creative people on these industrials. I just have to remember to speak "corporate". I have witnessed numerous people get fired for using coarse language. I have been fortunate enough to to get an IATSE card, which has allowed me to gain entry into the theatrical sound business. I still get calls to mix concerts, but my focus has shifted more towards the industrials and theatricals. Each of them have their advantages and disadvantages, but at least I am getting the work.
